Despite water and lilies matching
the horizon’s curve, we note possibilities
in decline. One stem bends lower
to the petals’ strain. A second
murmurs concerns before relaxing
in the dimmed lighting. Another
denies knowing its fate
as you pinch off a yellowing leaf.
Outside, a wasp reconstructs its nest.
